This curriculum is a collection of educational resources, lessons, and material, for “Remember the Red River Valley,” an exhibit at the Heritage Hjemkomst Interpretive Center in Moorhead, Minnesota. Included are approximately 25 lessons on a variety of topics for fourth through eighth grades. The lessons are curriculum-integrated, multi-disciplinary activities designed to engage the students in, and enrich their knowledge about, the region in which they live. Minnesota and North Dakota standards, resource materials, and extension activities are included for the benefit of both teachers and students. Goal of the Curriculum The goal of this curriculum is to provide area teachers with useful, relevant materials that will provide helpful information about the Red River Valley, as well as give students with a better understanding of their region’s historical and cultural heritage. This curriculum is intended to provide an incentive for teachers to feature the Red River Valley in their lesson plans, give students rich background information with which to complete projects about their local region, and encourage both teachers and students to take advantage of the educational materials available for their use at the region’s primary interpretive center. Use of the Curriculum Any materials in this curriculum may be used for educational purposes without the written consent of the Heritage Hjemkomst Interpretive Center. Contact Sara Dalen
