Ships

The Mariners' Museum in Newport News, VA Great website for those interested in anything to do with sailing.  Clicking on the Educational Programs link will take you to the Age of Exploration page, which gives information not only on Viking ships, but on ships throughout the ages.  Not many photographs (at least in the Viking section), but very good information.

Gaia A Gokstad replica ship managed by the Sandefjord Museum in Norway that still sails (it is for hire).  Lots of information on the Gokstad burial ship.  Extensive links page.

Per Åkesson's Page Wonderful site on ship wrecks of the world and underwater archeology.

Stave Churches

Medieval Scandinavia Web-Site This is a very informative web-site that offers information on many aspects of Scandinavian history. It has a specific and detailed section on Stave Churches, History of Norway, the life of St. Olaf, the Oseberg Viking Ship, and a section Historical measurement. The Hopperstad church is featured, and a brief description of it and its history are offered.

Nissedahle Stave Church Replica - Web site for the stave church replica in Little Norway, Blue Mounds, Wisconsin.

Leif Ericson Website An Icelandic page celebrating Lief Ericson's voyage to North America in 1000 AD.  List events happening on both sides of the Atlantic.

Copenhagen Pictures Tourist information for Copenhagen, Denmark.  Site has link to information on ships sunk in the 10th century in Roskilde Fjord for protection against attack.

Norwegian Government, Office of the Prime Minister. Official Documentation and Information from Norway (ODIN) A good web-site, and very reputable, yet the information is brief and comes from author Håkon Christie’s texts anyway. A useful site for information about anything in Norway.
